Law at Magdalen 2021

Event: Law at Magdalen 2021

11th-13th August

Law at Magdalen is designed specifically for Year 12 students from backgrounds that are historically under-represented at Oxford. The aim of the event is to introduce prospective students to the realities of studying Law, and to help them to familiarise themselves with Oxford’s approach to learning.

The 2021 programme will run on 11-13th of August. They are provisionally planning for the programme to take place in person at Magdalen for 30 participants with an additional online programme offered on the same days for a number of other applicants. If they are unable to go ahead in-person due to covid-19, then the programme will still go ahead digitally as it did successfully last year.

Across the three days, Magdalen Law tutors Joe Sampson and Katharine Grevling will introduce attendees to the breadth of the study of law through a series of classes drawing upon the full range of the Oxford course. Mixing theoretical discussions with source-based analyses, attendees will be given an insight into the daily work of an Oxford Law student. There will also be the opportunity to learn about the admissions process, including a demonstration Oxford interview, as well as the chance to meet current students while taking part in social activities. Find out more information about what the programme involves, including specific selection criteria here: https://www.magd.ox.ac.uk/law-at-magdalen/

Applications are now open and will close on May 16th 2021.
